Randvaal Tehuis

About the Organisation

The Randvaal Tehuis is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation originally founded in the 1990s by Tannie Dolly Smith and her husband Oom Gert to care for vulnerable pensioners. Today, the home is overseen by an experienced management committee led by Chairman Johan Smith, ensuring professional governance alongside compassionate, community-driven care. Operating at a maximum capacity of forty residents, the home remains dedicated to providing an affordable, supportive environment where senior citizens can live out their golden years with true dignity and respect.

What They Do

1

Affordable Residential Accommodation

The facility offers safe, budget-friendly housing tailored for elderly individuals who primarily rely on their state pensions and cannot afford high-rate private institutions. This core service ensures that vulnerable senior citizens have access to a secure, stable, and welcoming community environment where their basic social needs are met.
2

Professional Frail
Care and Nursing Support

With a high number of frail care cases residing at the home, dedicated caregivers provide essential, around-the-clock physical assistance and health monitoring. Staff members utilise specialised equipment to assist residents with daily living activities, ensuring their health, safety, and mobility needs are managed with the utmost kindness.
3

Managed Dietary
and Kitchen Services

Under experienced legal and administrative oversight, the home operates a structured kitchen service that focuses on inventory control, stock management, and nutritional balance. Professional chefs prepare regular, wholesome meals designed to support the specific health and dietary requirements of the elderly residents.
4

Resident Advocacy
and Wellness Programmes

The organisation runs active outreach initiatives, including elder abuse awareness mornings and targeted community wellness projects, to actively safeguard the rights of older persons. Residents also benefit from regular personal care services, companionship visits, and social activities that foster mental well-being and keep them deeply connected to the local community.
